Shopping
If you enjoy your visit to The Highlands, as we're sure that you
will, you'll want to take home a souvenir or two of your stay.
There are shops too numerous to mention all over the area, offering
quality gifts to suit all tastes & pockets.
Locally, Newtonmore's Co-op is open from 8am to 10pm (9 to 7 on
Sundays) so you'll be able to stock up on provisions even if you
arrive quite late.
Newtonmore is also home to the
Newtonmore Craft Centre and
Gallery, with a splendid range of gifts and souvenirs to suit all
pockets and tastes, plus original paintings and prints from the
on-site studio of David Fallows, who painted all the watercolours
for Susan Hampshire as 'Molly' in the TV series Monarch of the Glen.
There's also Flora's Kitchen - a newly established delicatessen with
some interesting cheeses and cooked meats. Newtonmore also has a
Post Office, ATM machine, clothes shop, electrical shop and a candle
and soap maker, plus some early and late shopping in the filling
station.
In Kingussie, apart from the usual range of shops is George Gows
Butchers for quality meat and game, and Murchies - open till 6.30pm
or so, with an extensive range of hard to find delicatessen items
and good wines and spirits.
