Yesterday, Fergus Ewing MSP, the cabinet secretary for tourism and the rural economy announced to the Scottish Parliament that businesses in the tourism industry should start planning for a 15 July re-opening. We could not be more delighted and will be ready to re-open whenever the date is confirmed. We believe that Highland Holiday Cottages is ideally set up to enable social distancing and provide a safe base to enable guests to explore this beautiful part of the world responsibly and without increasing risk materially to the local population by travelling to the Highlands.
His announcement reads: ‘I’ve been engaging with businesses since the beginning of the outbreak and I have heard their calls for more clarity which today I can provide. Businesses should start to prepare for a provisional return to trading – with appropriate safety guidelines – on July 15, 2020. This date cannot be definitive and is conditional on public health advice and progression to Phase 3 of the route map. Businesses must now use this time to satisfy the necessary regulations and adapt to the new way of living.'
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions about the announcement, what we believe it means for guests or how/when to book.
